Stand against HB1228 with HRC Arkansas

Today the House Judiciary Committee passed HB1228 by a vote of eleven to four, with four committee members not voting. Once again hundreds of Arkansans gathered, this time at the State Capitol and HRC Arkansas can’t thank our supporters enough. Over 400 community members filled the Capitol steps leading to the House Chambers in a peaceful act of solidarity sending a clear message to the House of Representative that we are Arkansas and these are not Arkansas values. HB1228 was not addressed in the House today, but likely be on the agenda for tomorrow.

Let’s show a strong transgender front by joining HRC Arkansas tomorrow to line the steps to the House Chamber inside the Capitol at Noon and again at 4:30 p.m.on the steps of the Capitol as community leaders will share words of inspiration and encouragement for the future of the Natural State.

HB1228 is a thinly veiled attempt to discriminate against our community, allowing businesses to refuse service to any transgender person. No one should have a license to discriminate. Let Governor Asa Hutchinson know he has the opportunity to stand on the right side of history and veto HB1228.
